Invasive plants in urban areas

Invasive plants are becoming increasingly problematic in urban areas and habitats. Three of particular nuisance in the Ottawa area are

  • Garlic Mustard (edges of woods and forests, and in gardens)
  • Dog-strangling Vine (open areas near fields, woods) and
  • Buckthorns (shrubs invading forest undergrowth).

The websites below outline some aspects of these plants and control measures.
