PINECREST CREEK/WESTBORO STORMWATERSHED RETROFIT STUDY

ÉTUDE SUR LA RÉNOVATION DE L'INSTALLATION DE GESTION DES EAUX PLUVIALES DU RUISSEAU PINECREST/WESTBORO

The Chair reiterated members’ support expressed at the July meeting for the use of the Citygreen application to calculate stormwater savings, as documented by Senior Project Engineer Darlene Conway in her stormwater retrofit presentation. The concensus expressed was then prepared into the following motion of support.

Moved by H. Hamilton

Whereas, the City of Ottawa is defining a range of retrofit options and is evaluating how they meet the study’s objectives;

Whereas, consideration for tree cover scenarios in terms of stormwater savings through the CITYgreen software application is being used to document and estimate a dollar amount for the benefits of ecosystem services of tree cover in urban environments;

Whereas, there are lessons to be learned with this pilot project;

Whereas, reduced storm water runoff in the urban environment is encouraged and a more natural approach is preferred;

Be it resolved, this is a pilot project study, the OFGAC encourages the City to use this methodology in other areas to be applied more widely in all of the City’s watersheds.

Be it resolved that the OFGAC supports the innovative tool, CITYgreen software application, to demonstrate the economic benefits of tree cover and its role in diminishing the volume of stormwater runoff;

Be it resolved that the OFGAC supports the Storm Watershed Retrofit Study’s objectives and the use of the CITYgreen software application;

Be it further resolved that the OFGAC recommends that the City pursue this study to its full completion.
