Landscape Planning in Suburban Environments
The Outreach Sub-Committee of the Ottawa Forests and Greenspace
Advisory Committee organizes the Walk Series, a major public activity
that has proven to be quite successful. We have held four walks
in 2006 and three this year already. We plan on two or three more
walks in 2007, with the next one on June 17th.
We welcome you to join us on Sunday afternoon, June 17th at 1 pm.
Our starting point will be in the parking lot of the Stonebridge
Trail located on Jockvale Road, next to the Jockvale Bridge.
This guided tour will present one of the hottest topics in today's
urban planning: Landscape Planning in Suburban Environments, with
guest speaker Bruce McNabb from Monarch Developments. We will be
walking along the Stonebridge Trail and within the beautifully planned
residential community of Stonebridge. You will experience how the
appealing housing mix is integrated among the parks, walking trails,
conservation areas, woodlots, and ponds throughout the community,
which provides enjoyment to all residents and visitors alike. This
walk is estimated at 1 ½ to 2 hours.
Directions: If you are coming from Greenbank Road, turn south onto
Jockvale Road and you will soon cross the Jockvale Bridge. The Stonebridge
Trail entrance, and parking lot, will be on your left. If you are
coming from Prince of Wales Drive, turn right onto Jockvale Road
and head north, the Stonebridge Trail will be on your right, immediately
before the Jockvale Bridge. The OC Transpo bus number 95 Strandherd/Barrhaven
will get you to the new Strandherd Park & Ride. A transfer to bus
number 186 will bring you across the Jock River over to the Stonebridge
Community and meeting point. Please not that the 186 has a reduced
service on Sundays.
Come along and learn more how this community was created!
