Outdoor enthusiasts won't want to miss this first in our series of events celebrating Ottawa's greenspace and natural history. Join us May 21st for an afternoon walk through the McCarthy Woods, and hear the tales of struggle and survival of these remarkable 120-year-old maples. Guest speakers include Councillor Maria McRae (River Ward), Erwin Dreessen (Poet's Pathway initiative), and Seaton Findlay, an expert in Ottawa's urban woodlands. Hosted by the Ottawa Forests and Greenspace Advisory Committee in partnership with the Greenspace Alliance of Canada's Capital.

The following photos were taken on 16 April 2006. They illustrate some of the ways people (and wildife) use McCarthy Woods as well as a couple of problem areas.
